Martin "Marty" McIsaac was born and raised in Boston before his family moved to the suburbs when he was ten. The oldest son of a policeman and a nurse, Marty grew up in a household where service and duty to community and country weren't just values — they were a way of life. That foundation shaped everything that followed. Over the years, he wore many hats: soldier, police officer, and ultimately special education teacher — a career path that speaks as much to his patience and character as it does to his range of life experience.
It's no accident, then, that when Marty finally sat down to write, he reached for a story rooted in history, duty, and the question that drives every great "what if" — what would you do if you had the chance to make it right? That question became the heartbeat of the Marking Time series, a gripping blend of historical fiction and time-travel speculation set against the backdrop of the American Civil War. Two modern teachers find themselves dropped into 1861 with knowledge no one around them possesses — and a choice no one should have to make.
Now retired and living in Florida with his wife, Eleanor, and their two inexhaustible Schipperkes, Barnum and Bailey, Marty continues writing—and stubbornly participates in numerous age-inappropriate activities, much to the delight of local medical facilities. The Marking Time series is now available on Amazon, with Book 3 and an audio version in production.
